THE DESTRUCTION OF RELIGIOUS BABYLON

Revelation 17

INTRODUCTION

There are so many things going on today. And when we compare them to Scripture we often wonder … “Does any of this link together in the Tribulation?” Some of the points of wonderment is ecumenicism, moves toward a one world church, the movement within the Roman Catholic Church to make Mary “Co – Redemix,” equal to Jesus in salvation. That means one could call on Mary just as easily as calling upon Jesus for salvation. There are Catholics today who trust in Mary more than in Jesus.

And we must make a very important statement at the beginning of this message. This is not a basis to bash anyone or anyone’s beliefs. This is an honest attempt to understand what Almighty God says will occur in the future. In this chapter there are so many questions. All of them will not be answered until we get to heaven. We will simply have to live by faith. But, according to what we know, we live, we act, and we behave.

Whether we like it are not, people are incurably religious. God has created within us the desire to worship. With the entrance of sin we are so often willing to worship anything. If we reject the true God then we will make our own false gods in order to try to fill the God – shaped vacuum that we have. And into this vacuum Satan will step if we reject God.

False religion is everywhere in this world. It is no surprise that it will play a major role in the end times. During the Tribulation, all the world’s religions will be united into one great world religion.

The next two chapters deal with destruction. In chapter seventeen is the destruction of religious Babylon. In chapter eighteen is the destruction of political Babylon. These two systems are the basis of the world’s system in the Tribulation. And we can use the word “great” to describe both systems. Even the best Bible scholars do not agree with the details of these two chapters. In some ways this is the hardest part of the book of the Revelation to interpret. Here we have to be careful not to be a dogmatic as we can in some other passages in Revelation.

Clearly there are some things we know, there are some things we think we know and there are some things we will just have to wait for the answer from God. One great obvious fact is that in verses 16-18 of this verse the Anti – Christ himself will destroy religious Babylon. And in chapter 18 God destroys economic Babylon.

THEME: BECAUSE WE CAN CHOOSE TO STAND AGAINST GOD WE WILL BE FACING:

NOTE: The same law applies to an individual that applies to systems. In fact systems are simply the sum total of people who hold to them.

     B. The Mystery Of The Beast vs. 8

               c. Brutality

          3. This is the same Beast we met in chapter 13, the Anti-Christ

               a. This world ruler will come out of the bottomless pit, which may suggest a man rose from the dead vs. 8

NOTE: “Perdition” seems to link him with Judas

               b. For this reason some students believe that Anti – Christ will be Judas raised from the dead

          4. Key verses

               a. While I was with them, I was protecting them by Your name that You have given Me. I guarded them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture may be fulfilled. John 17:12 HCSB

               b. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction 2 Thessalonians 2:3 ESV

     5. Perdition comes from the same root word we get “apollyon”

               a. Destruction

               b. Perishing

               c. Ruin

               d. The destruction that consists of eternal misery in hell

          6. The Beast is identified with Satan

               a. The Beast is scarlet colored, linking him with the dragon, Satan

NOTE: And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. Revelation 12:3 KJV

               b. The fact that the Beast has seven heads and ten horns also identifies him with Satan cf. 12:3 and 13:1

NOTE: Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.    Revelation 13:1 NKJV

               c. The seven heads are seven kings (as well as seven mountains vs. 9-10

               d. The ten horns are ten more kings vs. 12

NOTE: The Beast pictures the kingdom of Anti-Christ as well as his person

     C. The Mystery Of The Seven Heads vs. 9-11

          1. We have already seen that these represent seven mountains (vs. 9) and seven kings or kingdoms (vs. 10)

          2. The five kingdoms that were fallen were:

               a. Egypt

               b. Assyria

               c. Babylon

               d. Persia

               e. Greece

          3. The kingdom “that is” would be Rome in John’s day

          4. The one yet to come, the seventh, would be the kingdom of the Beast

NOTE: The world will not be conquered again until the Tribulation

     D. The Mystery Of The Ten Horns vs. 12

          1. The ten horns are ten kings vs. 12

          2. They parallel the ten toes of Daniel’s image in Daniel 2:36-45, the revived Roman Empire

NOTE: In John’s day, these kings had not yet received their power; this is reserved for the last days when this special union of Europe, headed by the Beast, comes into focus

          3. These ten kings willingly give support to the Beast in his battle against Christ and the saints

          4. With the help of the Beast, they will destroy the great whore

T.S. BECAUSE WE CAN CHOOSE TO STAND AGAINST GOD WE WILL BE FACING:

          I. JUDGMENT

          II. MYSTERY

III. WAR AGAINST GOD Revelation 17:14-18

     A. The Waters vs. 15

          1. The waters on which the whore is seated represents the peoples of the world vs. 15

          2. She will have influence over the whole world

               a. Politically

               b. Economically

               c. Religiously.

          3. The whore represents the apostate world church of the latter days, centered in Rome

NOTE: The Roman system is simply an extension of those previous anti – Christ and anti – God systems that have persecuted the people of God           Hebrews 11

          a. Abel Hebrews 11:4

          b. Moses Hebrews 11:24-27

          c. Rahab Hebrews 11:31

          d. Others Hebrews 11:33-40

NOTE: For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. Hebrews 11:10 HCSB

     B. The Pattern For The Last Days Seems To Be As Follows:

          1. Many Protestant groups will move closer to Rome and finally there will be formed one great World Church

          2. The unsaved, theological liberal and modernist Protestant groups plus the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox systems plus most World Council of religions will make up the Tribulation World Church

          3. This World Church (the harlot) will meddle in the political and economic affairs of the world and, with the help of the Beast, become a great power

          4. The World Church will “ride into power” on the back of the Beast, that is, with the help of Satan and united Europe

               a. The Vatican has always been interested in seeing the nations of Europe united, because she knows that this will give her greater power

               b. The Beast will get the support of the ten kings as he rides to victory (Revelation 6:1-2), so that there will be a union between the nations of Europe, the Beast, and the World Church centering in Rome

CONCLUSION

BECAUSE WE CAN CHOOSE TO STAND AGAINST GOD WE WILL BE FACING:

I. JUDGMENT

II. MYSTERY

III. WAR AGAINST GOD

               b. The fact that the Beast has seven heads and ten horns also identifies him with Satan cf. 12:3 and 13:1

NOTE: And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.  Revelation 13:1

T.S. BECAUSE WE CAN CHOOSE TOSTAND AGAINST GOD WE WILL BE FACING:

          I. JUDGMENT

         II. MYSTERY

III. WAR AGAINST GOD Revelation 17:14-18

     A. The Waters vs. 15

          1. The waters on which the whore is seated represents the peoples of the world vs. 15

          2. She will have influence over the whole world

               a. Politically

               b. Economically

               c. Religiously.

          3. The whore represents the apostate world church of the latter days, centered in Rome

NOTE: The Roman system is simply an extension of those previous anti – Christ and anti – God systems that have persecuted the people of God           Hebrews 11

          a. Abel Hebrews 11:4

          b. Moses Hebrews 11:24-27

          c. Rahab Hebrews 11:31

          d. Others Hebrews 11:33-40

NOTE: For he (Abraham) looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.      Hebrews 11:10

I. JUDGMENT

I. MYSTERY

III. WAR AGAINST GOD

WHEN IT ALL AVERAGES OUT

Revelation 18

INTRODUCTION

One of the most common statements we make things don’t work just right for us is: Life is not fair. And that is true. Nowhere do we have any guarantee that there is any fairness … in this life. But, as people of God, we do have the assurance that some day there are paydays coming. And then the accounts will be balanced.

In his most delightful book “Always: The Paradoxical Commandments” Kent Keith includes these commandments:

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them. Help them anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.

This is what we do as Christians because this is what Christ did even though He knew that they would crucify Him.

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

Matthew 10:24-26

Before God makes all things new, He first makes all things right. Some would say, “It’s pay-back time.” And it is. It will be sudden. It will be sure. It will be painful. It will be permanent.

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 51:61-64

     B. The “No More’s” In Chapter 18

          2. They participated in the sins of Babylon

     B. The Merchants Of The Earth vs. 11-16

          1. Their wealth

               a. Gold

               b. Silver

          1. The true sorrow is that they can’t make any more wealth there

          2. The sorrow is not for the city

          3. The sorrow is for themselves vs. 19

     E. The Contrasting Attitudes

          1. Rejoicing with the death of God’s people

NOTE: For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb,

and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.

II. THE PEOPLE OF GOD MUST BE SEPARATE FROM BABYLON

III. THE PEOPLE OF THE EARTH WILL BE IN GREAT SORROW

IV. WE WILL REJOICE IN HEAVEN OVER THE FALL OF BABYLON vs. 20

     A. The Stark Contrast To The Sorrow Of The World

          1. The people of the earth never have the same viewpoint as the people of God

          2. When Satan was cast out of heaven, heaven rejoiced but earth mourned

NOTE: Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

Revelation 12:10-12 NKJV

          3. Now that Babylon has been destroyed, heaven rejoices but earth laments

     B. The Rejoicing Because Of The Righteous Judgment Of God

          1. By those in heaven

          2. By the holy apostles

          3. By the holy prophets

NOTE: There disagreement as to how much do the saints in heaven know about what is going on here on earth

     C. Here Is Another Case Where The Righteous Will Ultimately Triumph

          1. First we will have suffering

          2. Last we will have victory

T.S. WHEN GOD MAKES ALL THINGS RIGHT FOR US:

          I. THE HATERS OF GOD WILL FALL

II. THE PEOPLE OF GOD MUST BE SEPARATE FROM BABYLON

III. THE PEOPLE OF THE EARTH WILL BE IN GREAT SORROW

IV. WE WILL REJOICE IN HEAVEN OVER THE FALL OF BABYLON

V. THE WORLD SYSTEM WILL BE COMPLETELY DESTROYED vs. 21-24

     A. The Illustration Of The Destruction Of Babylon vs. 21

          1. A millstone trying to float in water

          2. And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “When you arrive in Babylon and see it, and read all these words,

then you shall say, ‘O Lord, You have spoken against this place to cut it off, so that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but it shall be desolate forever.’

Now it shall be, when you have finished reading this book, that you shall tie a stone to it and throw it out into the Euphrates.

Then you shall say, ‘Thus Babylon shall sink and not rise from the catastrophe that I will bring upon her. And they shall be weary.’”

Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 51:61-64 NKJV

     B. The “No More’s” In Chapter 18

          1. The fruit that your soul longed for has gone from you, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all. Revelation 18:14 NKJV

          4. The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. Revelation 18:23 NKJV

     C. What Will Be No More In Babylon vs. 22-23

          1. Music

          2. Jobs

          3. No more light

          4. No more weddings

          5. No more sorceries

               a. Greek – pharmakeia

               b. The use or the administering of drugs

               c. Witchcraft and magical arts

     D. What Is Found In Babylon

          1. The blood of prophets

          2. The blood of saints

          3. The blood of victims

          4. Judgment and destruction

CONCLUSION

WHEN GOD MAKES ALL THINGS RIGHT FOR US:

I. THE HATERS OF GOD WILL FALL

II. THE PEOPLE OF GOD MUST BE SEPARATE FROM BABYLON

TWO GREAT SUPPERS

Revelation 19

INTRODUCTION

Who exactly is God? God had been depicted in every way imaginable. He is a she. He is an old man. He is beyond our wildest imagination. He is a dotting grandfather. He is an angry judge. He is simply a more evolved creature than us. He is … And the list goes on and on.

If the only glimpse of God that we ever had were the two previous chapters then we would have to conclude that He is a judge. This is part of Who He is. But only part. A dad can be a highway patrolman and constantly give out tickets on the Memorial Day Weekend. This does not mean that as soon as he walks into the house after work that he begins passing out tickets. But there comes the time on the job when that dad has no choice but to write tickets, draw his gun, wrestle a drunk to the ground. While these verses present the climax of the wrath of God as Jesus Christ comes to destroy the armies of the nations of the world that is not all that God does.

THEME: WHEN EVERYTHING IS MADE RIGHT THERE WILL BE:

I. THE JOY IN HEAVEN Revelation 19:1-10

     A. The Importance Of “Hallelujah”

          1. All of heaven rejoices over the return of Christ to the earth

NOTE: The “Real” Second Coming

          a. Christ comes in the air for His Bride at the end of the Church Age

          b. Christ comes to the earth at the end of the Tribulation

          2. The word “hallelujah” means “Praise Jehovah”

               a. This is a familiar Old Testament word

                b. In the New Testament it is only used here

                   1) After this I heard something like the loud voice of a vast multitude in heaven, saying: Hallelujah! Salvation, glory, and power belong to our God Revelation 19:1 HCSB

                   2) After this I heard something like the loud voice of a vast multitude in heaven, saying: Hallelujah! Salvation, glory, and power belong to our God          Revelation 19:3 HCSB

                   3) Then the 24 elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who is seated on the throne, saying: Amen! Hallelujah!  Revelation 19:4 HCSB

                   4) Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.       Revelation 19:6 ESV

     B. The Three “Hallelujah Choruses” In This Section

          1. Because sin has been judged 1-4

NOTE: There are three “Hallelujahs” in this section

          a. In chapter 18, the merchants of earth and the kings were lamenting because of the fall of Babylon; but here, heaven is rejoicing

          b. Babylon was the source of all religious deception and confusion

          c. Babylon has caused the death of multitudes of God’s saints

          d. Now Babylon is destroyed

          2. Because God is reigning 5-6

               a. It appears that all of heaven’s voices unite to praise God because He is God, and because He is on the throne

               b. “Omnipotent” means “all-powerful”

NOTE: It is this theme that Handel uses in his magnificent “Hallelujah Chorus”

               c. How we will praise God because He is on the throne!

          3. Because the marriage of the Lamb is come 7-10

               a. The words “is come” may be translated “has been completed”

               b. The Bride is now the Wife vs. 7

               c. The marriage supper is now to be served

               d. This is the marriage supper of the Lamb, and not “the King” or “the Lord”

                  1) The one title that Christ wants emphasized is “the Lamb”

                   2) It speaks of His love for the Church

                   3) It speaks of the price that He paid to purchase the Church

     C. The Church Has To “Make Herself Ready” For This Supper

          1. This was done during the judgment seat of Christ, when all the “spots and wrinkles” were taken away

NOTE: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Ephesians 5:25-27 KJV

          2. The Bride goes to heaven by God’s grace, and not by good works

          3. But once in heaven, the believers will be judged at Christ’s judgment seat as to whether they have been faithful in service

          4. Verse eight states that the Wife will wear “the righteousness of the saints;” that is, “the righteous deeds of the saints”

          5. Christ will reward us according to our faithfulness, and the rewards we receive will make up the “wedding gown” as it were

NOTE: Has it ever occurred to you … that at the marriage of the Bride to the Lamb, each of us will be wearing the wedding garment of our own making?           Lehman Strauss

NOTE: Those who are invited to the wedding supper

          a. The Old Testament saints

          b. The host of heaven

          c. The Bride and Groom are not invited to the wedding supper, since they are the honored ones in heaven

T.S. WHEN EVERYTHING IS MADE RIGHT THERE WILL BE:

          I. THE JOY IN HEAVEN

II. THE JOY OF SEEING JESUS Revelation 19:11-16

     A. The Opening Of Heaven vs. 11a

          1. In 4:1, heaven opens to let the Church in

          2. Here heaven opens to let Christ and His armies ride forth in victory

               a. The Old Testament saints

               b. The Church

NOTE: so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints. I Thessalonians 3:13 NKJV

              c. The angels

NOTE: When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory      Matthew 25:31 KJV

          3. At His trial, Christ said that the Father could send angels to deliver Him; and here the Lord rides forth with the armies of glory

NOTE: Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?       Matthew 26:53 NKJV

          4. In 6:1, the Anti-Christ had ridden on a white horse, imitating Christ; but here the “Faithful and True” rides forth to judge and make war

     B. The Description Of Jesus

          1. He is no longer on a humble donkey

NOTE: The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah … and they have made him ride on the king’s mule. I King 1:44 NKJV

NOTE: “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.’”     Matthew 21:5 NKJV

          2. He now rides a fiery white charger

          3. His eyes are not filled with tears as when He beheld Jerusalem

          4. He is not wearing a mocking crown of thorns

          5. Instead of being stripped by His enemies, He wears a garment dipped in blood, signifying judgment and victory

          6. When on earth, He was abandoned by His followers; but here the armies of heaven follow Him in conquest

          7. His mouth does not speak gracious words, but rather the Word of victory and justice

               a. So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” Luke 4:22 NKJV

               b. but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Isaiah 11:4 NKJV

          8. He comes to rule with a rod of iron

       10. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

T.S. WHEN EVERYTHING IS MADE RIGHT THERE WILL BE:

          I. THE JOY IN HEAVEN

II. THE JOY OF SEEING JESUS

III. THE JOY OF ENDING THIS PRESENT EVIL WORLD Revelation 19:17-21

     A. The Two Suppers vs. 9, 17

          1. The marriage supper of the Lamb vs. 9

          2. The supper of the great God – Armageddon s. 17

          3. The first is a time of blessing and joy; the second is a time of judgment and sorrow

          4. All of human history is moving rapidly toward Armageddon

     B. The Announcement

          1. The angel announces that the armies of earth will lose the battle

          2. There will not be much of a battle; for Christ will destroy His enemies instantly

NOTE: since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you,

and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

II Thessalonians 1:6-8 NKJV

     C. The Failure Of Flesh

          1. People are only flesh and can never fight against God

          2. “Flesh” has been the source of trouble since the fall of Adam

               a. Flesh does not change; God has condemned flesh

               b. Flesh can never please God.

NOTE: Napoleon called the valley of Jezreel the most natural battlefield in the world

     E. Christ Destroys The Armies vs. 21

          1. With the Word, the sword that comes from His mouth

NOTE: For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.       Hebrews 4:12 HCSB

          2. Those would not bow to His Word and receive the Gospel must now be slain by that same Word

NOTE: The followers of the Beast are “marked men and women”; the mark of the Beast on their bodies seals them for certain judgment

NOTE: Key Old Testament prophecies of this time: Isaiah 63, Zechariah 14, and Joel 2-3

     F. The Destruction Of The Leading Enemies Of God vs. 20

          1. Christ captures the Beast and False Prophet

HOW RELIABLE IS THE BIBLE FROM A SCIENTIFIC STANDPOINT?

INTRODUCTION

To many, especially in the intellectual educational and scientific world, nothing is more archaic, outdated and outmoded as the Bible. To dare to use the words Bible and science in the same sentence, except to ridicule the Bible and those who accept it, is the height of incredulity. No reputable scientist would dare to admit the Bible and science to be on the same level of truthfulness.

Many are respectful. The Bible belongs in church; science belongs in the real world. Many are not in the least respectful.

NOTE: Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.

Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

I John 2:22-23 NKJV

But to the child of God there is another view. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.         Isaiah 40:8 NKJV. Jesus said, Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.        Matthew 24:35 NKJV

What is the duty of the Christian even in the realm of science?

For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.       I Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV

Even in the realm of education and science the Christian has a duty to honesty and truth. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.     II Corinthians 4:2 ESV

It is sad that some Christians still do not put total trust into what the Word of God says. They believe without question what it says about salvation but when it comes to the area of science they draw strangely quiet and withdrawn.

          1. The blood, which is the channel of life, becomes also the carrier of disease and infection through the body

          2. As the infection of sin spreads throughout the soul, it will ultimately produce spiritual eternal death

               a. If spiritual life is to be produced and maintained, new life must be introduced from without to combat the ravages of sin in the life

                b. Figuratively speaking, a transfusion of blood is essential and it must be from a donor whose blood possesses the purity and efficacy required for the salvation of the spiritually dying soul

     C. Because Of The Salvation In Blood

          1. For this is My blood that establishes the covenant; it is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:28 HCSB

NOTE: “Remission” is a medical term as remission of cancer, fever, infection, etc.

          2. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins Hebrews 9:22

          3. This is a picture of the Biblical doctrine of substitutionary sacrifice

CONCLUSION

The Bible is not old fashioned. The Bible is eternal. The Bible is not archaic, it is as vital, vibrant, strong and sure today as it was when Moses penned the word, “In the beginning, God … ” The Bible is not a collection of outdated, outmoded proverbs of Middle Eastern tribal leaders. It is the Word of God which is settled in heaven.

The Bible is not a scientific book but when it speaks on scientific matters it speaks accurately, concise and with the integrity of God Almighty behind it.

But the true gut issue is not the Bible and science. This world and all that is in it will one day pass away. But he that does the will of God will abide forever. God is not willing that any should perish but all should come to repentance. A doctor can only read an X-ray and tell a man he has six months to set his house in order.

The Word of God is more scientifically correct than any doctor – and we are diagnosed to be under a death sentence because of the disease of sin. Remission is possible through the blood of Christ.

NOTE: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

I John 2:22-23

But to the child of God there is another view. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.         Isaiah 40:8.  Jesus said, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.        Matthew 24:35

What is the duty of the Christian even in the realm of science?

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.         I Thessalonians 2:13

Even in the realm of education and science the Christian has a duty to honesty and truth. But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.   II Corinthians 4:2

It is sad that some Christians still do not put total trust into what the Word of God says. They believe without question what it says about salvation but when it comes to the area of science they draw strangely quiet and withdrawn.

I. IT IS SO RELIABLE THAT SCIENTISTS BELIEVE IT

II. IT IS SO RELIABLE THAT IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY CORRECT HUNDREDS AND EVEN THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEFORE “MODERN SCIENCES” CAUGHT UP

III. IT IS SO RELIABLE THAT WE CAN TRUST OUR ETERNAL DESTINY TO IT
